What the Hell Are Margin Points? – A method by Joe Mikla
Written on May 14, 2014

Margin points are assigned for match wins and losses based on the final score. Zero margin points are given for matches that are halved. The purpose of assigning the points is to calculate an average margin win and an average margin loss for each golfer. Overall, this will give just one more attribute to measure the competitiveness in the golfer--- does he forge ahead and go for the decisive victory? Does he still battle it out when the match score isn’t going in his favor?

Below is an example that shows in two victories, the winner amassed 20 margin points for an average 10 point-per-match win. It also shows that in one loss, the loser amassed 11 margin points for an 11 point-per-match loss.
